Everyone wants to better the human condition, the question comes down to if you believe free markets will do that or do you need the government to attempt it by force.

βDo you think you can take over the universe and improve it?
I do not believe it can be done.
The universe is sacred.
You cannot improve it.
If you try to change it, you will ruin it.
If you try to hold it, you will lose it.β

Those nuances are surly things to debate, and also the gray stuff in the middle π€π»
this is a false dichotomy.
How does the free market better the human condition of people with chronic illness or mental health issues? What happens if those people don't have many resources and can't afford treatment?
Friends, family, charity, insurance, there are many solutions other than having the government centrally plan it.
Charity doesnt solve these issues, can mitigate them at best. Many people don't have a strong network or many resources. If we leave everything to the "free" market many people are not gonna make it and I don't want to live in that world.
They rely on charity as humans have done for thousands of years.
Not this modern fiat charity BS where a fraction of donations go to those in need and these massive NGOs skim the rest, direct funded charity as we saw for millenia.
If you give your money to a charity, they might scam you or misallocate those funds. When the government takes your money, they definitely scam you and misallocate those funds.
Therefore, charity has a higher likelihood of success. Since 99% of the world believes a government is necessary to provide false charity, then 99% of the world would gladly provide real charity. The reason we donβt see this now is because the State makes us apathetic.
