Similar anecdote with my great grandfather. He didn’t make it to 100 but he was very healthy and mobile into his late 90’s.

-He didn’t go to the doctor ever. (Didn’t drink excessively or smoke at all)

-He cooked his Polish meals daily. Heavy dairy, butter and salty meats. I remember my mother commenting on his “great genes”, even though he had horrible eating habits and didn’t really exercise. Somehow maintained a modest weight.

It’s crazy how much we have to “unlearn”.
