Question for #asknostr

My son is too young for a cell phone but I do want him to have some sort of mobile ish hot wallet type solution. He used to be on wos but now we need a new solution. Are there any products out there that might allow for this sort of functionality? Perhaps a 1 of 2 multisig so I can safeguard his funds when he inevitably loses his device?

I currently have him set up on mutiny but that only works thru his laptop. Was think8ng some sort of nfc card type deal? Seedsigner? Satscard? Tapsigner? Not sure.

If you're running an lnbits instance, you can set them up with a wallet there?

As admin, you would have access to his account in case he messed up or lost his device somehow. He could connect to it through Zeus or just by using the PWA.

Is there an option available that doesn't require a cell phone? He has a tablet but it's a fire tablet and it restricts everything. Can't even use mutiny as pwa nor browser

He could use lnbits as long as he has access to a browser. So maybe if the fire tablet is restricting everything then it might not be the best route. 🤔 ill think a bit.

If the fire tablet can install google playstore stuff (as it is customized android after all and you can install google playstore there as well from apk), I will go for the current app thru there (search for io.getcurrent.current on the playstore)

I like it for the kiddos. It has its own custodial little wallet which I load up so they can zap friends, it is a taste of nostr without the global shit well unless the trending posts are penisbutter and so on 🤣 and they can play with the plebai stuff, image generations and so on which can be paid direct from the app's wallet (thinking about it I may go broke on sats with these kids shenanigans meh). If device lost, doesn't matter.

I should clarify he is using a kids profile which is significantly locked down. I did have wos sideloaded with apk on the adult profile but it's a pain cause I have to log in with a pin each time he wants to use wos. Also I'm not so keen on sideloading financial apps due to security risks.

other than WOS being custodial, why do you need a new solution now, nothing has really changed?

WoS filled that gap for LN Hot wallets, where things just work.

obviously just as a hot wallet for small change.

Savings should be on chain in a hardware wallet setup.
