"I can't afford it to have kids." Billions of people— BILLIONS— have afforded it with less. How is it that you "can't" do something that has been done under more difficult circumstances billions of times? Stop making excuses. At least be honest.

My exact thoughts, my man.

David Ricardo wrote about this in the late 1700s.

His thesis was that until people have achieved the level of financial security their parents had before having them, people do not marry or have children.

This level is obviously different for people of different social origins.

Rural Europe was still in the Middle Ages then, but I think Ricardo's thesis still fits the observable facts today better than conventional explanations pushed byvregime mouthpieces - like level of childcare interventions, or the percentage of women photographed with framed pieces of paper.

Well, our parents basically all started off rich because housing was still so cheap.

A lot of young people, nowadays, can't even afford a drivers' license, much less a car. All they have is a cellphone.

If they had kids, their income and savings would increase.

How? 🤔 do you mean, because of the shift in personal priorities?

Yes! Taking care of your family is THE most powerful motivator. Studies also confirm that fathers outearn every other category.

Well, I can testify to that! I was a complete self centred ass before I had kids 🤣 having kids is one of the best spiritual journeys you can undertake so long as you're receptive to being humbled.

Life finds a way, kids care little for the contents of your bank account, but for quality time and cosy family memories.
