previously, i have been in a habit of forking other people's stuff... this time i'm walking through the code and building it up bit by bit so i actually understand what's happening
tends to be too many things that i don't understand and as such i break them with my modifications, and they were not even relevant to my purpose
so i'm starting with writing some basic web server/websocket upgrade handling to get started
