Thanks, I thought this was an interesting episode. I appreciate the informed skepticism (from the developer of a Nostr client no less!) about whether or not this whole "social media" thing, decentralized or not, is a net positive for humanity.

I tend to come down on the side of "yes"... For all of centralized social media's well-documented ills, we've never really tried a format like this. In particular, the ability for zaps (lightning micropayments) could, in principle, reverse some of the economic models that lead to "enshittification" of centralized platforms, and all of the downstream bad behaviors of content creators cited in the episode.

Also as a secular humanist perhaps I'm a bit more optimistic of the ability for humanity to figure out its own problems independent of appeal to religious epistomology...
