Blixt Wallet is back with the final release in the 0.6.x release line, v0.6.9-420. Nice!

This version has a new feature for Android, Lightning Box.

Lightning Box is a service letting you receive via a Lightning Address non-custodially to your Blixt.

Lightning Box works in conjunction with Persistent Mode that was released in Blixt Wallet v0.6.9.

For things to work out well, make sure battery optimization is disabled.

Battery drain is expected to be low or not noticeable if things go as expected. Reach out if you have issues.

The Lightning Box service will forward Lightning Address (LNURL-pay) requests directly to the wallet app on the phone, so it can respond back with an invoice created by the wallet itself.

This means that while this service is not a custodian, there is still trust involved.

Lightning Box is free and open-source software and anyone can choose to run their own service provider.

In Blixt Wallet settings, you can easily change the server to your own.

The Blixt Wallet project will host a Lightning Box instance for @blixtwallet.com addresses.

A draft bLIP specification for the inner workings of this protocol can be found here:

https://github.com/hsjoberg/blips/blob/lnurl-forwarding/blip-lnurlforward.md

It is built using Lightning P2P messages, so any lightning node wallet implementation can choose to implement this protocol.

That's all for now. Cheers and Happy Blixting! 🟡⚡️

A bit unrelated, but I closed a LN channel on my Blixt wallet node some two weeks ago and it's still "waiting to close". After the second day I set it to force close, which will take longer time. I am not aware of any setting to adjust the fee; the fee was rather low and hasn't been picked up by miners yet.

Now it's been 3 weeks and the LN channel hasn't closed yet. Still saying "Waiting for close". Limbo balance.

Waiting for close usually indicates connectivity problems to the peer. For coop close you need to communicate with the peer.

Try manually connecting in settings -> Lightning Network -> Show Lightning Peers -> +.

Thanks for the response.

My Blixt wallet is connected to 4 peers. If I press + I have the menu "Connect to lightning peer", asking for node URI. If I type in the node public key of one of the nodes in the list I get an error message saying I am already connected to the peer.

I suspect it's the low fee in sats (less than 1500 sats) that is causing the tx not to be mined. I see RBF is active on the tx so I might have to bump the fee up.

My Blixt LN channel was finally closed after ~5 weeks. Normally it used to take only a few days.

If it is possible to request a fee-bump feature for closing channels in the Blixt wallet, that would be a brilliant addition when the mempool is crowded.
