Yeah, at the same time. You only live once. If that's something that brings them joy and they can afford it, why not?
As someone with an entry level luxury car, I wish I spent half the money, on sats, and bought a beater instead.
But I am thankful I have a nice consistantly reliable car that doesn't need constant repairs like my beater prius does. Lol

I’m at the stage where the repairs needed to my car exceed the value 😭. Use sats to cover the repair costs and go all in on a piece of shit car for another 5 years with more big repairs bills coming down the pike OR use sats to buy a beater to last another ~10 years?
Driving a strong and comfy machine feels good. It is what sats are for. It should be within reason of course. Only when a fraction of my sats get me that dream car I'd go for it.
I like to look at these things as a cost per use equation. Do you spend 3 hours a day in your car commuting to your lane job? Then a nice car could make that suck less and might make sense. Or do you work from home and drive like twice a week? Then I’d say go cheap.
Use it a lot? Spend extra on an upgraded version
Use it in frequently? Then just get the most basic model.
