So the web hosting provider I've had for 20+ years recently changed hands.
I got the yearly invoice the other month, paid it and didn't think much about it. But now I've gotten another one and see that they're now charging me the yearly invoice price *every month* (now ~$115 for a 5GB plan on a shared server).
Help me out here, that seems steep even in this economy?

at that price just slam together a linux box with a static IP on home wifi, wtf.
Either careless error or trying to get away with some shady ish, either way I would make copious backups then drop 'em like the pimp's in the crib.

Ouch. We charge just over that for *managed* hosting (incl wordpress updates, backups, etc) so yeah that seems pretty steep, especially if they didn't notify you! I would recommend checking out https://www.interserver.net/r/10736
We've used them for years and no complaints and a hell of a lot better pricing.

Still have a dreamhost account, and they aren't this expensive. Use it for some WordPress sites that aren't very important.
