Happened to me once it sucks
You probably login on a client that didn't got the relays you used to use so it couldn't get the list of followers properly.
Since than I use Citrine a relay on the device just in case this could happen again.

You can download Citrine here all you need to do after install the app is to add the localhost to relay list on the client.
Add this on ralay
ws://localhost:4869
This situation happened before because you tried some new Nostr clients. It may be that the new client has a problem with the way it handles the relay's watchlist. Because different relays pull different historical data.
You can use this to restore your watchlist. https://follows.nostr.com/
These things happen sometimes. Nostr is still growing and evolving. To prevent this you can add wss://hist.nostr.land to your relays list and it will save/backup your follows incase you ever need to restore them you can go https://hist.nostr.land and get everything back.

a couple years back when #nostr was even more in it's infancy I managed to wipe my follows list like 20 times. 😂. Eventually I got tired of it so I found some of my favorite users on nostr and mass followed all the people they follow (you can do this on snort.social). This is a good way to just follow a bunch of great accounts then you can prune the ones you don't like over time.
I even made a tool that will check your follow list for inactive accounts so you can mass follow then clean up the ones that aren't active.
