I disagree. Bitcoin and lightning is nifty, i’m glad we have it. But it’s not what makes Nostr really special. Nostr revives the promise of Web 2.0 where it was easy to make social apps which built upon each other with little or no prior permission needed. The way we can have dozens of different kinds of apps with the same user and some of the same data is fundamental.

maybe we're talking about two different things.the ability to make clients without permission is a feature of nostr technology. Instead of user demand characteristics, only new user needs or non-mainstream needs can generate new product demand. only such products have lasting vitality. most killer products start out with niche needs. the core needs of users are not any special or complex technical value, the user needs is that we can solve their needs. just like Bitcoin people want to have a use case that will make bitcoin more fun.
nostr now needs user demand products, we need to start from the technology thinking, into the user demand thinking. nostr just provides a Bitcoin application scenario, and the convergence of Bitcoin and nostr scenarios is just beginning.
