When you build you feed and just keep following back people with same interests and actively engaged.

I rarely look at global as my follow feed has messages coming in basically every minute. You need to follow lots of people though first.

Maybe I’ve just gotten good / used to filtering out nonsense, or my relays are good, but I browse global pretty often and discover new people that I like without seeing anything too terrible

"Global" will be useful when restricted to specific relays that are paid or curated.
