How many hens you got?
It always surprises me when people say chickens stop laying in the winter. I wonder, what on earth are they doing to them? :) Unless they are as old as the hills, as you are confirming, good ones keep the eggs coming, maybe not flat out, but definitely not nothing.
We have 7 hens. Yeah, the coop is as cozy as it can get given the weather and haven't had any problems.
