Pets and photos would be what I grab. Why not both? Its cars and superficial things I would leave behind.
Chaos breeds change and regulation. It's a lot like how most of the mass shooters-the actual ones, not gang related events with collateral damge-were mostly on SSRIs. They manufactured problems so they can implement changes. They sell the sickness then the cure. With Covid, I mean that very literally.

Still haven't heard anything about the Maui fires other than "here's $750 byyeeeeee :)"
Or the land grabs in North Carolina. Or the "wildfires" that kept happening a few years ago.
They tend to let things fizzle and hope people forget.
