Foucault drew on those, as well as Hindu traditions, for his philosophy of narcissism and ever-escalating sexual transgression.

But he wouldn't have been hailed by Woke as a prophet if the wider culture hadn't already accepted many elements of it.

I'm usually very interested in the history of ideas, but I might chicken out of following this any further back...
