Sure. If everyone says the sky is blue and I say it’s green, being out of consensus should cause me to go back and evaluate my assumptions and eyesight. But everyone may say the sky is green and spend a great deal of energy on that propaganda campaign and it may still be wrong.

You’re missing the energy expenditure component - that’s why your example is low signal.
