Was just thinking about hardware wallets today. The following two things are both very important and somewhat in conflict with each other: secrecy and reliability (backups in case of failure). How does SeedSigner achieve and balance these two goals?

Sometimes it feels like we can have master secrets and child secrets, in which case child secrets don't need reliability just secrecy. But we have not built such a thing, and every time we try there are big issues.

That comment was for nostr keys, not bitcoin seeds.

you're talking about key delegation?

Yeah. nostr:npub1tv8gmfhalwnxxquxjzeh6gtdsdz6vg7vx0s3rt7s7uuw6aujh32qn77wn2 has the SeedSigner signing nostr events. I was interested in it for both reasons.

I really like the idea of very strong privacy against online threats, and sacrificing only physical privacy to get very strong reliability.

IMO the fact that it starts fresh every time you turn it on is it's best feature. You can go store your seed someplace and just scan it in to load your seed. so having access to the device won't do shit

OMG That is a great idea. Then I can just have my seed on paper. Where do I get one?

you build it with a rpi zero, screen, and camera. there are stores that sell prebuilt ones though
