Finished The Godfather by Mario Puzo. It’s a great book, but one of the rare instances where the movie improves on the novel.
Discussion
Absolutely! I think it has to do with the fact that Francis Ford Coppola was able to bring out more nuance in certain scenes and characters than Puzo could have written down on paper. The film also benefited from some incredible performances by Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, and James Caan, among others.
Yeah, the music and visual settings in the films are impeccable, as well.
My primary problem with the book is the chapters devoted to Johnny Fontane and Lucy Mancini. Feels like a distraction from the main storyline.
