I always find it funny when people say that you don't need any more guns. If you don't know what your adversaries are up to, the only way you will find out that you are not secure enough, is if you are attacked and cannot adequately defend your property/life
That's why the biggest armies in the world keep expanding, because they can't possibly know everything that their enemies are busy with, so they continuously make it more expensive to attack them, by expanding their defense/offence capabilities
You won't know you are secure enough, until reality teaches you that you are not. It's just natural. So some people will always want to increase their capacity to defend their property. They are also the ones best equipped to fight off an attack
Any written law is just an abstract form of power that has to be rooted in reality. Your property is only yours as long as you have the capabilities to defend it as yours (or the entity you outsourced that responsibility to has the capability and incentive to defend it on your behalf)
