Does any body know how 0xchat handles image uploads? Specifically: what kind of scanning does it go through before being served up? I poked through github, but, as usual, I can't find squat on the various pages, and I don't have the technical skills to trace the upload as it happens.

If you send an image via DM, it will be e2e encrypted before being uploaded to the file server. If you send an image in a group, channel, or moment, the image is directly uploaded to the file server.

You can also choose a NIP-96 server in the settings-file server

If I send it via DM, no one outside of that DM would be able to see it, correct?

I don't have a server, so, I can't host my own media. Yet.

Correct

*sighs* then I really need to figure out hosting my own.

But, until then... I'm still looking for info on what 0xchat does with media.

For example, nostr.build processes all media with either cloudflare or MS photodna for CSAM. Does 0xchat do this? If so, how?

The default 0xChat file server also uses a cloud storage service, and unencrypted images will be scanned for illegal content through AliCloud OSS.

OK. That's perfect. I can now read up on AliCloud to see what they do for image scanning.
