purely cosmetic

picking and choosing which features to patch with concrete is hard. Actually patching is very easy. in the end i want spaces to retain their age and show it in a tasteful way. I think a monastic sort of mineral wash, and hand smoothing some of the corners around the citadel will help bring everything together. need arches.

having a lot of fun doing the concrete work

forgot to mention, left side of the column is patched, right side obviously left raw as a sample

Concrete is an extremely interesting and useful material. You can do so much with it and it can last millennia.

yea I’m deep diving and it’s just too fun

The thing I’m most interested in with concrete rn is creating faux-rock for finishes on pools to make them look like giant stone walled swimming holes. There are some people who can do it perfectly. Super impressive

yea I’m on the fence about using faux foam filler. I want to build some really solid structure/sculpture

Agreed, I wouldn’t do foam in anything. I would build structure with rebar then do a thick layer of concrete over. I’ve been strategizing how to build something that would last.

I didn't even know that you could do that!

cheap, easy, very satisfying

Yeah I get that satisfying feeling.

Similar to using a pressure washer to remove decades of old grime.

the first step, yea those kind of see your progress works are great
