I think likes are such an irrelevant metric here on Nostr…

I don’t think it makes much sense to have that on a decentralized protocol.

Not to mention, once you like something, you can’t unlike it. But also, just the fact that the metric is inaccurate (since you need to query from literally all relays to get an accurate number).

However, even if you do query all relays to get an accurate like-counter, it still doesn’t matter, as creating bot accounts on Nostr is super easy (only requires a little Python script). Then, you can get all bots to smash the like button…

Liking your shit until you change your mind 🤔

I click the like button on notes often here on Nostr, but it’s mostly because I want to train an AI to find me similar notes. Basically, I think it’d be a fun project to build a recommendation algorithm.

So I fetch all the notes I like, and then train the AI to find similar content for me
