The berries on the beautyberry bushes have started turning color now. I love the color of these berries. They grow wild all over our property, mostly as understory trees. The crushed leaves are supposed to be good mosquito repellents, although i have never tried that. And the pretty berries make good wine or jam. #grownostr #permies #homesteading #beautyberry

So pretty! I assumed with such a vibrant color that they were poisonous, but was pleasantly surprised. With the mild flavor, they'd probably be pretty good in salad 🤔.
Yes, they are one of my favorite colors in the wild. I eat them sometimes, but they dont have much flavor, kinda just neutral.
Same! We came across some really ripe ones that had a hint of sweet but mostly herbal taste.
Black Blue and purple berries are the most likely to be edible.
I think it's like 90% of black blue or purple are edible, while only 10% of red coloured berries are edible
