⚡️🇧🇪 NEW - Belgium becomes first country to remove gender from ID cards

Belgium will not be offering a third gender option on its identity cards. Instead of adding an "X" alongside the traditional ''M'' and ''F'', the federal authorities have opted for an alternative solution: allowing non-binary people to have their gender completely removed from their official document.

This decision, announced by Interior Minister Bernard Quintin in the columns of the Flemish newspaper Het Nieuwsblad, makes Belgium the first country to offer two versions of identity cards - with or without gender indication. However, this measure does not satisfy LGBTI+ associations.
