A small privacy victory - UK drops demand for backdoor into Apple encryption
The UK has dropped its demand for Apple to provide backdoor access to encrypted user data, according to US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard
The UK had initially issued a secret order in January, requiring Apple to grant access to encrypted files stored in its Cloud service. In response, Apple suspended its Advanced Data Protection (ADP) feature for new UK users and challenged the order, eventually winning the right to publicly discuss the case
