Folks are actively working on a CTV UASF client for 2025. I don't think you can dissuade them. These are ride or die bitcoiners. You can't delay forever; eventually the node runner plebs will revolt. If no one is doing the *very much* full time work of consensus building it could get real messy.

At some point working towards a soft fork becomes the risk averse strategy.
