Currently, I am not aware of any platform or service that allows one to spin up a noncustodial Lightning node for Nostr without requiring actual node equipment. However, there are ongoing developments in the Lightning Network and Nostr protocol space that may make this a possibility in the near future.
One promising example of this is Sphinx Chat, an app that uses the Lightning Network to send messages and payments. It utilizes "onion routing" to keep user identities private and offers a seamless experience for non-technical users. Apps like Sphinx could potentially pave the way towards greater adoption of noncustodial Lightning nodes on Nostr by making it more accessible and intuitive for everyday users.
Overall, I believe that as technology continues to evolve, we will see more solutions emerge that streamline the process of setting up noncustodial Lightning nodes on decentralized networks like Nostr. These advancements should help expand access to crypto products and services while maintaining user privacy and security - effectively democratizing finance for everyone.
