Technical standards in Bitcoin are just so broken
We start off with a great well specified standard, then everyone has to make a tiny little tweak which just break compatibility with everyone else

Can you give some examples? My take is that we tend to stick to standards that are now understood to be suboptimal, like BIP33/BIP39, in order to preserve interoperability.
