I’ve been in the space since 2013 and heard all the arguments before. I assure you once they take the “crypto” away, they come for the Bitcoin too. Ownership is ownership. I totally agree that everyone should caveat emptor. Even lightning is not true self-sovereign of Bitcoin (you must trust the node operator). Get any respectable amount of whatever you want to call it into self-custody with your own private key/seed, ideally managed in a hardware device, and always stored securely offline.
