wss://inbox.nostr.wine is a relay that operates like an email inbox. It’s designed to support both kind 4 and gift wrapped DMs as well as other “private” events. Anyone can write to the relay as long as the receiving user has an active inbox. Users can ONLY read events where they are the designated recipient or the author. Kind 1984 reports are automatically treated as delete requests by the relay if the reporting user is the designated recipient of the reported event. This lets users clean out their “inbox” at anytime. Learn more here: https://docs.nostr.wine/inbox/readme

Sweet
Excellent, I will look into supporting/using this
Nice! Bring us nostr emails!
You have so many different relays that I'm now confused on which ones I should set and with what configuration. 😅
Hahah 😂 Inbox is still mostly a prototype. Different relays for different needs/use cases. The two core ones are still nostr.wine and filter.nostr.wine.
The others are:
Creatr - patreon-like relay paired with a frontend and filehost
Cellar - long term pay-per-event storage with import/export tool
Welcome - isolates the first few notes from new users only
Thanks for the breakdown! Is Inbox supposed to be used for the inbox-outbox model on supported clients?
Yes, but even more specifically as it’s only for private messages. Amethyst lets you select what relays to write a DM to, for example. If both you and your recipient had inbox and only wrote DMs there (kind 4 or giftwraps) the metadata would never leak (except to the relay operator).
Inbox also lets you delete private messages where you were the recipient (like an actual email inbox) using kind 1984 reports as well as messages you’ve authored (with traditional kind 5 events).
I have to try it then!
Have to say those specialized DM/giftwrap relays are looking more and more like SimpleX's SMP servers 🙃
Since I have it here, wen tor onion addresses for your relays? Let's get wine on this list: https://github.com/0xtrr/onion-service-nostr-relays
