That is a good question my dear friend that could have multiple answers and more questions. It is just a hypothesis that we are a cosmic experiment as well as the theory that we live in a simulation. The universe could simply be a big cosmic trial and error space with a high degree of evolution where we ourselves are what we are teaching the universe.
Discussion
If we are in a simulation, that is created by humans in the future. We should relate what we use simulations for now and expand from there. We can imply my how emersive this simulation we are in, it is the most advanced one our future selves have created.
That being said. We use our most powerful simulations now to try and figure out and predict the most difficult problems we have right now.
