Testing out nostr relay on Umbrel. 3000 of my real historical events taking up 5.2MB on disk. Nada.

So, is that good or nah?

😂

It’s good! I’m not worried about filling up my disk with my own nostr notes. I’m a pretty prolific poster and 5 Megabytes out of 1 Terabyte hard drive is nothing.

I figured so.

Thank you.

Hoping to set this up on my desktop today.

lots of data🤙🤙🤙

Are they using the NIP-42 client auth to prevent others from reading?

Nostr-rs-relay doesn’t seem to support this NIP (which is what umbrel is using). Does any client even support that yet?

Not as far as I know. That’s why I’m curious how umbrel is protecting the read side of the relay if it’s available on the internet. If it’s only local net, how can you share it w friends/family?

Tailscale.

Tailscale works for personal use (think long term archival). Not meant for friends/family use. Don’t think there’s a very good solution for this as of yet.

Ok got it. just confused because of the way Umbrel is promoting it (a personal relay for you and friends/family you share it with).

Cool use of tailscale though
