I second that request for better media support in Damus but I am still thinking about what the actual features need to be:

1. Gallery View: The feed and a user's profile should be visible in a condensed "media only" view similar to the instagram posts grid. nostr:npub1wnwwcv0a8wx0m9stck34ajlwhzuua68ts8mw3kjvspn42dcfyjxs4n95l8 already does this on the web. The issue with a grid like this is, since all aspect ratios are allowed in nostr, most of the images need to be cropped strongly to get everything in the grid.

2. Full screen navigation: If you want to browse through images/videos only it would be great to do this in the full screen view (portrait + landscape). This is not only a Tiktok / Instagram stories kind of view but Telegram also does this when viewing media in fullscreen. Just swipe to get to the next photo/video.

Any other ideas #photography #photo #photostr community? nostr:npub1vjl6n2llukcc6pe3am2hkwqh8twzh2ymlp7pdrdfq5tlqg08y26sd7ygzx nostr:npub1e3mx09yq53gyh9368qyuhfstgk8t7p5vvfcnvgwa4994y7rqg37s20qvr5

Thank you for your reply and ideias #[6]! I think gallery view would be awesome. We’re building #nostr and, in this case #damus, it will take time but #[2] is listening your feedback and ideas. First, the essencial things related to the basics of “social network”, and then the visual and the beauty of it. Thank you!

For a photographer focused client I would recommend to try to imitate flickr: being able to attach information to the photo like its location, date taken, technical aspects... Also to be able to classify our photo notes in albums would be very important for a photography client.

Not sure if it makes sense for a general client like Damus to add this detailed metadata but it would make sense to find a place in the #nostr spec where to put these information. In a photography specific client these would be great!

As for albums the technical foundation in the nostr protocol is already there with lists of notes (type 30001). It would be great if we can get clients to add support to build photo albums based on the lists.

Yeah I don't think it is something for Damus or other Twitter like clients, should be clients focused on photography, hope they will exist at some point but no rush anyway.
