I don't like laws, regulations, or taxes, but realistically know that, as long as we have government, we will have them.
I'd like a Constitutional amendment that requires a 2/3rds majority to pass any law that increases (or even may increase) taxes or regulations, but only 50% (or even 45%) to remove taxes or regulations. I would also like 50% of states to be able to remove any Federal law or tax and 50% of counties to be able to remove any state law or regulation. I also would like all laws to sunset after 4-8 years unless they are reapproved with the 2/3rds majority. I'd also like to add the requirement for single subject bills. If we added an amendment requiring 1 day of debate for every 1-5 pages (defined as 8.5" x 11" at 12 pt font) before a vote can be taken, that would also slow down the damage that could be done. Maybe you could allow the time requirement to be overridden in the case of an emergency, but then would require 90% approval.
If those amendments were made, it would definitely slow the government down and give us more freedom.
Now if I could just get the politicians to approve such amendments. I won't be holding my breath. I'll save them for when/if secession occurs.
