Yes should work fine with sandboxed Play Services installed, then the stand app. However with various changes it could be that Google have made or make more functionality dependent on more privileged access resulting in lower charging speed.

Advise checking out our community channels (Matrix/Discord) and asking other members what their mileage is like, not owning one myself.
