There will always be lots of tradeoffs between base chain, LN, and whatever other layers we ever manage to build. And this is (perhaps ironically) a good thing! Because it means every layer will be used, all the time, bc different users will want to make different tradeoffs for different transaction scenarios. Which means there will always be a demand for base chain transactions, which means we always have an answer for those who raise concerns about base chain security dropping to zero.
