Interesting, dev tried to build group chat style app on top of ATprotocol and found it was too slow to work. I’ve always been amazed at how fast Nostr is but I haven’t yet seen a clear thing that is performance related that works on Nostr and not ATProtocol.

Stryfry is why nostr is fast

interesting. there are times when nostr's use of websockets is annoying, but when implemented well, nostr apps like Nostrudel are lightning fast, in stark contrast to the microservice architectures rampant in corporate software.

Yeah on atproto this’ll likely always be hard since the relay has to collect everything from each individual PDS… won’t be real-time for sure 😅

but that’s the great thing about protocols, if atproto strives as a social media app (such as Bluesky or some insta thing) then that’s great, but Nostr could come in clutch for stuff like messaging/DMs.

Check out nostr:npub1arkn0xxxll4llgy9qxkrncn3vc4l69s0dz8ef3zadykcwe7ax3dqrrh43w ‘s cyberspace protocol Onosendai. It’s only possible with web sockets on nostr

Yep, virtual worlds built on nostr. I doubt it would be so easy with AT.

onosendai.tech

seems like people are not grasping the potential of web sockets, and having a global grid of relays attached to them.

And because Bluesky doesn’t have any more ability to block than Nostr does: https://clearsky.app/bsky.mom/history

I can't find the mentioned post on that link

I think it got deleted.

wasn't it supposed to be accessible forever in the user's PDS and only vanish from clients?
