Crimea, USSR - February, 1945.
After the allies defeated Hitler, Black American sailors sit beside their Soviet colleagues as they were not allowed to sit beside their fellow Americans due to segregation.
One particularly interesting snapshot shows a dinner at the Fleet House in Sevastopol, with several African-American sailors seated next to their Soviet colleagues. The US Navy was racially segregated at the time.
How sad that even with their sacrifice they were treated as subhumans by the American nation they fought for.
The communists always were far more democratic than the capitalists, world wide!
Is that what they said at the gulag comrade?
