Even for gaming Windows doesn't seem to be that necessary anymore. Steam on Linux has made great progress 👌

Defnitly just started AOE2 definitive Edition some weeks ago on my linux laptop. And it works with some tweaking. But no commandline stuff. Just some steam and ingame adjustments for graphics.
I would not want to switch back to windows.
