Ok I think I’m too regarded for this as I may be confusing WiFi with “access to data” via an ISP.

Don't overthink it; its just using random free wifis wherever you are at.

To be "safer" on said free WiFi like a library or restaurant, make sure to use a VPN.

Ah yes, that I do! I was thinking of WiFi for daily use at home with all my devices.
