The shuttering of first Buzzfeed, and now Vice news is a sign of the beginning of the great collapse, or rather centralization of major news networks that was predicted years ago at the tail end of the Obama admin before Trump gave them a new lease on life. Expect more to start tumbling down, The Root, Salon, and similar entities are likely next, followed by at least 1 if not more of the bigger ones (CNN, Fox, ABC, etc). What this will cause is likely some sort of government backed and/or orchestrated consolidation of remaining news networks into a larger consortium to pool viewership as said viewership gets smaller and smaller under the guise of "protecting democracy and its institutions". Said consortium will likely be both parts privately and publicly funded, acting less like a corporation and more like an open federal agency as the years stretch on.
