Medical professionals like to push a lot of “preventative” interventions.

Recently overheard a dentist who recently got some certification to do botox injections (or something like this not sure the exact credentials), but regardless, he was talking to a sub-30 year old girl about preventative botox…

If there’s anything I’ve learned about the body it’s that if you start giving it exogenous solutions to things that can be endogenously remedied, it’s going to use that as a crutch and stop endogenously solving these issues.

If you start taking melatonin routinely for sleeping then your body stops producing as much of it endogenously and at a certain point it will be extremely difficult to go to sleep without your melatonin pills.

Sorry, I don’t have any direct sources. This is more so a pattern I’ve picked up on from articles, videos, podcasts, listening to my elders, etc., over the years when discussing different functions of the body and how adaptive it is. It’s a double-edged sword that can cut both ways when you adapt naturally vs adapting around these artificial supplementations.
