You awake to find your lawn mower missing. Looking down the street you see a person mowing their lawn with YOUR mower. You confront them and they respond, “It’s mine now.” You reply, “But you stole it!”
Legal system: “Because your neighbor left a note under your doormat stating they planned to take it, you are considered informed in advance, took no steps to prevent, now they own it.”
