#asknostr #Coldcard users, how many GB are necessary for the microsd card that the wallet uses? I didn't purchase the microsd that's offered by Coinkite/coldcard, I went for a less expensive one

I'll add, I haven't yet connected this to a Sparrow Wallet on my laptop yet.

A less expensive one is perfectly fine.

You use the microsd for a few key reasons, and both are under 1GB.

- shuttling PSBTs for your transaction signing (tends to be small)

- exporting wallet pubkey, addresses, settings (also small)

- Updating firmware (about 1MB)

Thank you Vic!

Actually there are long-term sensitive information backup scenarios where you would uae the sd card, too. You can back up the seed or passphrase encrypted.

Altho backing up the seed requires you write down a passphrase (oddly). And the passphrase backup is strictly tied to the sd card serial number and the seed.

Yeah. And given the track record Ive had with industrial cards I wouldnt trust for long term survival

Will you be using the sd card to ferry psbt's between the CC and a desktop wallet? A cheap sd card sitting in your junk drawer is fine. Most sd cards outsize all your CC needs. Have a spare handy.
