The wallet is trash. Anytime someone tells me they can't zap me that person is using Primal.

Yeah, every time I try to zap someone and it’s not going through they are using primal.

On top of that they are only open source in name now since they are running a different build then what’s in their GitHub repository.

Additionally they KYC you in order to use their white labeled strike wallet.

Ohh and they are VC funded by the guy that tells you not to use Twitter because they KYC you.

Then the primal bros try to tell you that you’re not a “real Bitcoiner” because you have a realistic view on how the Bitcoin standard takes place.

Honestly I’d rather use Twitter than Primal.

Primal blows major ass.

There’s a ton of great stuff being built I don’t want to sound negative, but what I see us needing most is a super simple onboarding app.

Don’t overwhelm with all the capabilities of nostr, a feed ux for friends, and include a wallet for zaps. Convincing people to try yet another social app is quite the challenge, but btc integration is a big feature setting nostr apart.

However we need to begin with the understanding most new to nostr will also be new to btc, so having zaps built in would be a big help with new user retention imo.

There can always be a setting for users to level up with NWC zaps in the future

I think you're right about this. Primal is always the go-to app for most I meet at the nostr:nprofile1qqsww0ncvgjvdxzzzraplst3f5v2zcuq2eg8szmre5uu5zgp8npwmnqpzpmhxue69uhkummnw3ezumt0d5hsdfflyg meetup. It's easy to get started because everything looks "clean". The built-in wallet is an incentive as well. The fact that Primal also has a web client at Primal.net also makes it feel like like an actual competitor to Facebook, Twitter, etc.

Unfortunately, the app itself always seems to have problems when you need it to work. Primal just seems to care more about form over function to me. It's that beautiful woman that you still would never marry.

If we are onboarding normies with primal they are just going to think nostr sucks.

We are putting the carriage before the horse, nostr isn’t ready for a billion user at least the apps aren’t.
