Located on the Kenai Peninsula, the town of Girdwood is the home of Alyeska Resort. Amazing spot, great people. They aren't as high as you think, as the town sits at sea level. Often you can see Beluga whales popping to the surface for a bit of sun, or an adventurous local, surfing the bore tide.

The Bore Tide is a natural phenomena. It happens twice daily, at speeds of 6-24mph, and heights of 6" to 6'.

If you get the chance, Girdwood is certainly worth a visit. You won't be disappointed.
