If I remember correctly, this is based on their heartbeat and how fast it is versus ours.

I thought it was based more on average health conditions / markers. It’s not a geometric progression; note the difference between 1-2 years, 2-3 years, and 3-4 years.

You're probably correct. My knowledge on the matter is far from adequate.
