For what it's worth, I would absolutely not want this on my end. If I am forced to suffer it, I wouldn't use the platform. It will be abused. I don't have a problem stating that as fact. Certainly once more people are here. The trolls will eventually figure us out.

Being able to tidy up a written thought for a few minutes after posting is entirely useful to every person, particularly given the dire state of predictive text engines.
However being able to delete, hide or manipulate speech well after the fact is a revision of history and a dark endeavour (something the legacy media has demonstrated beautifully since the birth of the internet).

there may well be clients that go into this dark realm but it would be extraordinarily difficult for them to make everyone else follow suit... harder than herding cats
That's my only point. I just will not accept open gates for anyone to edit my notes. Not even if all I get is a request. I simply don't want that. To be fair, I'm not up to date on the entirety of the idea here so things could be changing faster than I can keep up. It seemed as though anyone could edit anyone when I first saw it.

I agree with your point. Third parties must have no control. However the real demons at play here when we are in pursuit of 'truth' is ourselves. We are the most likely to want to revise our own history and for the purposes of truth we ought not allow that beyond mere moments after the note is signed.
I'd disagree if you also mean the ability to delete. As of now, I think people should be able to delete notes. My opinion could change on that, but I do already understand the reasons why one would NOT want that ability to exist, as you've already pointed out. It has pros and cons in my mind.
