In the United States, the federal government is prohibited from taxing your rights. If bitcoin is speech, there is an interesting argument to be made that such speech cannot be taxed.

This doesn’t mean you can’t be taxed on gains. But I’d argue you can’t be taxed for swapping UTXOs (as you might do when withdrawing from an exchange or moving your coins from a compromised seed phrase to a new seed phrase) and maybe even between bitcoin and stable coins or 💩 coins.
