So I figured I'd experiment and use them as I feel into using this protocol.
So can I ask, what's the main purpose of hashtags on here?
I am only guessing it categorizes your notes so people sorting through to view content in just those hashtag categories see you? What else?
What are your favorite or regularly used hashtags?
What more should I know about #hashtags on #nostr?

Hashtags are a way discover like minded plebs
they are parsed out of event content fields and added to the tags of the event usually with a "h" tag so they are fast to search
I've found it is a good way to curate your personal feed. Follow a hashtag and find individuals that you are interested in following.
#grownostr is great for homesteading/permaculture type content.
After #coffeechain inevitably comes #toiletchain π§»
I have no idea why people use the #nostr hashtag lol

#weedstr is a good one if you wanna find all the pot heads π
Search on nostr is not as robust as other social platforms, so hashtags are a way to find related content.
What Iβve noticed about Nostr hashtags, having never used social media with hashtags before:
Itβs a little difficult to predict when the more common form of a hashtag will end in -str; my only guess is probably if itβs likely to be a common part of home life, e.g., dogstr, catstr, and foodstr
Tunestr used to be used for music generally, but now itβs an actual thing, tunestr.io
Several ending in -chain are related to meals, like coffeechain and breakfastchain.
Grownostr is meant to be used for anything at all NOT related to Bitcoin β thatβs what I was told, at least.
